The Art of Underglazes
My ‘Joy in Colour’ theme grew from a simple impulse: to follow colour wherever it wanted to go. I let intuition lead the way — layering underglazes with brushstrokes, dots and lines until each piece finds its own rhythm. I’m drawn to colours that feel alive: sunlit yellows, playful reds and the soft greens of early spring.
My process begins with movement. I sketch loosely, explore shapes and let the brushes wander. Some pieces become bold and energetic, others settle into calmer, more fluid patterns. What connects them all is a sense of joy — the joy of making, the joy of experimenting and the joy of seeing colour transform a simple form into something expressive and full of character.
These ceramics are meant to be touched and used. Each piece holds a moment of playfulness and a reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful.
