Martin Ash had a long career as a graphic designer and illustrator working on promotional material, brochures, instruction manuals, advertisements, logos and stationery, packaging and book design and exhibition material, for a wide range of clients in publishing, commercial, industrial, medical, travel, aviation and professional institutions.

He now paints in the traditional style, working in Oil, Pastel and Watercolour and has produced numerous commissions for portraits and many other subjects. His paintings are in a number of collections in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, South and West Africa, Eastern Europe, Paris and Florence.

He has tutored Adult Education art classes and workshops for East Sussex County Coucil, and for ACRES (Adult Colleges for Rural East Sussex) as well as running his own life drawing classes. He has written instructional articles for art magazines and has been a member of Ashdown Arts since their foundation about 20 years ago.
